I've got the following down for wayfinding...Origamist, Flying Dodo, Jasper, Claudine, User10571, Dan, Lisa C, Ben P, ilovebikes, Ibrahim, Helen B, Robert C

I've not much of a clue about the route, but quite happy to do some standing-and-pointing, if someone in the know tells me where to point. Having been part of a small breakaway-in-the-wrong-direction faction last time , I feel in no position to admonish strays...

Thanks for the "plug" for my ride.

I actually set off for HPC at 04:00 on Thursday morning (from Hull), heading first for Colchester, a friend is cycling with me on this leg of the journey and his parents live in Colchester so hopefully will get chance for a sleep at some point. No later than mid-afternoon on Friday I plan to set off for HPC giving myself a couple of hours rest before the midnight departure. Simon has kindly pencilled me in for TEC duties which is fine by me as I'll no doubt be spending most of the night at the back anyway!
A speedy route one return from the coast to the cenotaph in London may be requied so any help and route ideas are most welcome as well as anyone kind enough to ride back with me, I may start flagging at some point I guess!!
My plan is to be at the cenotaph before 16:00 so I can complete the entire ride in 60 hours or less (2 and a half days) It's going to be in the region of 350+ miles and I'm riding the whole thing fixed.
Any support and sponsors are most welcome either on the night or you can visit my page

All monies raised for Help for Heroes.

I am still questioning the sanity of what I am planning to undertake but I've always harboured a desire to ride to the start of a FNRttC, it seems like an ideal opportunity to qualify for membership of the mouseketeers and it raise's some cash for a worthwhile charity as well.

Further post to follow asking for route advice, Cambrideshire, Suffolk, Essex etc

Thanks everyone, see you all soon, hopefully.

Spelling on "Cambridgeshire" noted.

Teef - your very direct return route was what I had in mind, albeit on a busy?? A road.

Yep Mike, "busy" is relative - I read all this thread again and, apart from my inane rubbish, I saw your schedule - it's worth aiming for. I rather hope the Elite / Cat 1 routemasters...Dellzeqq, Tim O, Flying Dodo et al say 'NO' - if the "A's" are too iffy where they occur, then propose something equally direct if it exists.
Good on you for the fund raising - bit more of a push and you will reach the target! You could do a raffle - buy a book of tickets, sell at 5 for a £.
I'll donate a bottle of decent vin - and post (deliver perhaps) it to the winner. draw at the café in Felpham - which I still don't kno' the name of... Up to you.

Adjusted that for you Clive! look forward to seeing you again Fri Ni. How is your knee?

Thanks! Just imagine JL confronting the abusive drivers with one of those blood-curdling Gurkha battle cries...

Knee is OK - just avoiding praying. Turned out later in the evening that my wrist was worse - but it has cleared up almost completely. Looking forward to Friday.

I'm interested in the ride on Friday. How do i register?

Hello ktowntim, in the first instance I think you should mail fnrttc@yahoo.co.uk.
This will elicit a response from the ride organiser, Simon Legg.
I think - if you read back through the thread - that this ride is heavily oversubscribed. Large numbers of riders moving at various paces tends to exercise the 'logistic' and safety of the group. Ask anyway - I'm just offering this info as a starting point...
There is a ride once a month, as near to the full moon as practicable on a Friday - there is a splendid brochure which will be emailed to you! Have a look at previous threads entitled "FNRttC to ***somewhere***" to get a feel of the experience.
Welcome to the forum and I hope you find interest and enjoyment within.

Your kind offer is very welcome and could raise some more £££. Not sure what everyone's opinion is regarding my chosen charity to support, but I am most grateful for any support and sponsors I receive and respect people's opinions who differ otherwise.

Raffles, shmaffles, too much hassle, you've got an honest face, we'll just give you the money directly

I thought I had the answer to the Gurkha bridge/flint path dilemma, as this week the A29 at Bury Hill had one lane all cordoned off, all the way to the top, so would have been perfect for cyclists to go up in safety. Sadly, the workmen have been too efficient, and had finished working by this morning and cleared everything away.
