if the weather forecast holds then we should be there by eight. Otherwise 8.30. I'm sending out a little pdf showing distances to stations, but, put simply, Bognor is a bit over a mile away, Barnham and Littlehampton about five or six miles. If you're facing real problems getting back we pass Amberley and Arundel stations on the way down. We should be at Arundel at 6.45.

Check out the Southern website for any cheap fare offers they may have, but a single was about £15 last time I looked. Groupsave could help.

only one train an hour from Amberley, the fast ones don't stop there, Bognor will involve changing trains I fear on a Saturday morning but will have two per hour as will Lttlehampton Ford and Barnham I think.

That cat is a pathological liar. My right ankle says headwind all the way....

Andrea is predicting heavy rain. I think it's a German thing. I told her not to worry, and put her straight with the cat's forecast. I won't repeat her response, in case the cat is watching over Simon's shoulder...

as we found on Saturday my magic rain repelling overshoes only work when north of the South Downs and once the spell is broken in it takes 24 hours for their power over mother nature to be restored.

If you have nice weather can you send some over to Cornwall to?

It was nice yesterday. I sensed it might be anomalous so I cycled to Cardiff for a gig, via the nature reserve at Kenfig - very nice. I only have so much nice weather left, so I might save it for Friday night - sorry!

you should all have an e-mail with train details and an updated version of 'the basics' - if you don't please get in touch.

I've got the following down for wayfinding...Origamist, Flying Dodo, Jasper, Claudine, User10571, Dan, Lisa C, Ben P, ilovebikes, Ibrahim, Helen B, Robert C (Jasper, Flying Dodo and User10571 know some or all of the route, so may take turns leading)

and the following down for a bit of TEC - Mike E, Graham H, Andrij, Charlotte B, Liz N, Tompy, Adrian C, Kadu, Tim O, Jane G, John G. The latter list is a bit same old, same old, so feel free to turn me down

in fairness Metcheck agrees with the cat - it has northerly winds for Friday and Saturday

and I'm planning a last recce on Wednesday if anybody's intererested - provisionally leaving my place about 8.30 in the morning. I intend to inspect the Gurkhas and their works

Also, as mike e is cycling from Hull - raising money for Help For Heroes...

...presumably the return is going to be "Route 1" to The Cenotaph? Happy to go along that path as support, but not yet expert at route planning without involving one or two articulated trucks...
Here's a first auto-sketched route via bikehike...

I'm sure there must be better ways to get to Londres in one piece fairly quickly not involving choo-choo trains. Any suggestions?
Thanks.
