Yebbut, where I'm sitting leads me to believe we could be at 120....
In time the ride might get bigger. I've still to sort out a website, and press coverage. If it gets bigger it will change, and that bears thinking about. But for now I think that we have to increase bit by bit. I also think the present model may be pretty much at capacity - this month's ride may be instructive. There will be a pretty straightforward e-mail going out this evening highlighting the need for caution on Reigate Hill, and for bikes to be thoroughly checked over. The 're-grouping bunch' model depends on there being a limited number of punctures and mechanicals and people behaving themselves. particularly on descents. It places constraints on the routes - the Brighton route is, if I say so myself, a masterpiece of simplicity, but getting 100 riders out through Aldgate en route to Southend might be interesting, and steering 100 riders round the outskirts and south of Horsham en route to Bognor with, perhaps, three of us knowing the way, will be a real laugh.
I really don't want to go to route sheets. I really enjoy the camaderie of the format we have now. I like the idea of the slowest riders sitting down to breakfast with the fastest riders. It's all a question of what's possible.
