This is the latest thing to hinder my progress. I can cycle a healthy enough distance without any problem, but by the time I have got home and put the bike in the garage, I get serious pain in the arch of my foot - enough to make me feel sick, it only lasts for an hour or so and then I`m fine again, but it`s the same ritual every day.

Nothing has changed, my shoes and pedals are in good order.

Anybody have any ideas? It`s miserable

I'm not sure what is causing your pain but this article might help, http://cyclingtips.com.au/2011/12/the-lost-sole/

I suffered with "fallen arches" in my left foot many years ago and it was down ill fitting working boots, as you rightly say extremely painful, eventually remedied by arch inserts strapped to my feet until cured. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/2719...ICEP3.0.0-L&ff14=122&viphx=1&ops=true&ff13=80

Comfy armchair to one person & a plank to the next
Shoes and feet both age. If it's not remedied by new shoes, then switching pedals may be the better next move... I think it sounds like pedals too small and/or shoe soles not spreading the pressure, but who knows?

See a podiatrist or physio and get your pronation checked. And check the fit of your shoes

I take it you stretch everday. Tight hams strings, calf muscles or many other such things can and cause foot problems, I doubt it is pedals or shoes if the pain has not been there in the past.

My wife is a chiropodist and is in agreement with me.

Another possibility is the height of your seat, if it is too low you may be putting to much stress on pushing with your feet, which will also shorten your hamstrings to have a knock on effect, but again see a Chiropodist or physio to be safe.
