It's a tough one - could go either way.

The French have had a relatively easy couple of games, whereas Belgium have not. But IMHO the Belgians have proved to be a far more cohesive team than the French, and we haven't really seen how France will perform when the chips are *really* down.

I have a merino wool Belgium cycling jersey.

It's too warm to wear in this weather, especially as it has long sleeves. If i did wear it i don't think i'd get any hassle like i do when wearing my Colombia jersey, as most folk are pretty clueless about national flags.

I reckon the French are only slim favourites. Belgium have the personnel to win. If England get through they’d be better playing Belgium than France.

That doesn't make sense. If France only have slim chance then surely it would suit England to play them in the final (assuming we beat Croatia, of course) than Belgium.

And, if you need reminding, I put a tenner on Belgium to win the cup at 12-1. But naturally I'll be cheering England and put financial gain aside.

Plus, and it's a big PLUS, the Scots would have to endure yet another 50 years of gloating from England fans. They're still suffering from 1966.

Slim favourites doesn't mean slim chance.

Actually the French are reasonably strong favourites to progress which seems to be doing a disservice to Belgium

Having missed them at 25-1 when they were two down to Japan and then failed to take up 3-1 for them to beat Brasil in normal time (I was hovering over the "buy" button both time) they will probably go and win the whole thing

Slim favourites means only just the favourites, not by much in the betting world.

We are indeed, along with the Welsh and Northern Irish. Fear not, there is no danger of a repeat. You're just not good enough and have been very fortunate to get this far. Struggled to beat Tunisia; 6 lucky breaks against Panama; beaten by Belgium; lucky not to go out on penalties to a "poor" Colombian team; and then the one good result - a victory over Sweden who looked as if they wanted to go home for a summer holiday.
Please, please, Croatia; save us from another 52 years of gloating!
