Hopefully it should be a good final. Croatia had a lot of good skilful experienced players out there and that counted in the end. We have a number of exciting young players almost ready to join this squad so I am hopeful for the future...

As someone with only a passing interest (and next to zilch knowledge) of contemporary football thanksfolks for the interesting match commentary (i checked it out in breaks) and for the nice tone - could teach some of the more problematical bits of the forum a lesson, despite Football's reputation at times in the past. Saw the match in the forest hill spoons - a great old cinema building - perfect venue - cavernous open space - it was like being on the terraces but with good beer - and none being thrown. Great atmosphere.

Congrats to Croatia - FFS its population is less than half that of London.

I think he was thinking of the golden boot today, should have passed to Sterling to put it in, not one of Harry's best games.

I thought the referee was very fair.

He handled the players very well but not the game. He should have given 3 yellows in the first half to Croatia, Lovren should have gone off in reality. And he got a decision badly wrong in the second half.

That said Croatia were much better around our box and scored two good goals. We couldn't put a decent ball in and Sterling took too long every time he received it in the box. .

I can't complain, we had a great World Cup.
