I heard that a "posh white" rugby union player had/has a tattoo in the Greek language saying "I will fight you to the death". I actually find that more disturbing than this rifle tattoo. So if that tattoo was on a posh, white, rugby player....you would still have assumed it was him promoting gun crime, or gang culture?
I get that you have your knickers in a twist about the deeply upsetting drawing of a gun, but it comes across as very personal....
I've given my views that it will be seen when not wearing knee high socks, or possibly when he's receiving on the pitch treatment and the sock is rolled down.No one will see it as he will have knee high socks on FFS

Er, yeah.is it not linking sun damage to the skin as a comparable to having tattoos.
You aren't familiar with the new(ish) pads that don't need socks to hold them up,i take it?How can he he needs them to cover his Shin pads
I've posted about him (R U player) here on CC in the past.Ok - so where is the post regarding this?
I stick by my thoughts that it's to glorify guns, not about his "shooting foot". I find the promotion of violence dangerous and offensive. What exactly do you find offensive about it?
Have you ever seen the Knife Angel?
He's just a bit gangsta, initI was going to post this in the football thread, but i think it need wider discussion as it's more than just a football topic. Maybe it's too heavy for the supposedly light hearted cafe section and it'll get moved to the news and current affairs section.
Anyway, it puzzles me why anyone would want a tattoo of a rifle on their body in a supposed tribute to their dad who was killed by a gun.
So another of our overpaid too much time on their hands footballers does something daft, out of boredom or attention seeking maybe? This time Raheem Sterling has gone and got a tattoo of an assault rifle on lower his leg.

He says it's a tribute to his dad who was shot dead when he was just two. Now why would you have a rifle tattooed on your leg as a tribute if it was rifle that had killed him? If someone's dad had been run over by a bus and died, would they have a bus tattooed on their body? If someone's relative had taken a fatal overdose of paracetamol would one of their children go and get a bottle of paracetamol tablets tattooed on their body? These idiotic unsightly tattoos are getting out of hand!

I don't think it is implying tattoos are a bad thing per se (although I can see how that might be read into it) - I think the reference to tattoos is in relation to permanency.
I meant to say, yes - I have seen it. Very striking and poignant.
I love Alfie Bradley's work and used to travel past the British Ironwork Centre regularly, when I was working in Shropshire. Have you seen his Spoon Gorilla?
Can't say I have, special forces have some knife and snake type tats I believe.
I loved the love bird tattoo an ex had just above her pubic hair line.
Broke my heart when I found out it was known to many she was cheap and cheerful
