shinpads must be worn its been a football law since the 1990's and even if he did roll them down they must still cover the shinpad, which as crazy as it seems would still cover nearly of his tattoo.
What, shin pads that cover the side of the calf? Besides,it's not only on the pitch when we see these players. The one posted showing him in training, wearing short socks will be seen by many.

So you're saying that out of say 1.5 billion who'll watch the world cup, none will find it offensive or at least controversial?
Out of countless members of Cycle Chat, there only seems to be one person having a hissy fit over it... i expect the world's population won't be that bothered, if they even notice it.

Are you actually offended by this tattoo, or are you offended because the article in the Daily Mail told you that you should be offended?

the billions of people that are causing you great concern, will mainly watch the matches and not really be that interested in Englands training sessions.
We also have to remember that Sterling likes to go down quite often,so the sponge man will be coming on to use his magic spray, then when he rolls down those socks!!!! Some kid in Azerbaijan wll be sat watching the match and see it and say "Hell mum, have you seen what this f..kwit has tattooed on his leg"?!
OK, I know very little about sportsball but even I know that your socks cover your shin pads and therefore cover your shins and your calves
They do not always cover the calf, more so nowadays but there was a fashion a while back for small shin pads and socks stopping below the calf, some players still do this but I don't think Raheem is one of them.

What hate?! I'm on about his tattoo, not him. That tattoo could be on any public eye footballer or whatever and i'd still point it out.

So if that tattoo was on a posh, white, rugby player....you would still have assumed it was him promoting gun crime, or gang culture?

I get that you have your knickers in a twist about the deeply upsetting drawing of a gun, but it comes across as very personal....

Crikey, a confluence of sportsball and fashion - that's possibly about as far from my areas of knowledge as it is possible to get. But in schools football/PE around here (which it the bit I actually encounter, albeit from as great a distance and with as little involvement as possible, other than buying the sodding kit when my kids lose it!) knee-length socks are the ones required. And I did do a search

that definitely seems to show you are right in saying
but I don't think Raheem is one of them.
There's a few shots of him in training with his calves on show, but in matches he seems to wear socks with suitable decorum to satisfy the most prim.
