Frame bosses

maybe I’m quite unlucky but that’s now two frame bosses on my Cube CX Pro Race knackered! I’m resourceful so can repair myself but disappointing, never had that with any other bike?

Bottle bosses? Are they rivnuts?

Aye bottle holder bosses also used for attaching mudguards etc. They are effectively clinch nuts of which I should have the correct size and tool at work for fitting. Its the second one that has spun in the frame. Pretty poor quality to be honest not impressed at all. Anyway hopefully next year I will look to replace the frame with something a bit more svelte as its a heavy alu frame !

You can fix then with a QR and an axle (or a hub) without leaving the house! See the Park Tool website. The QR is the right thread, and doing up the lever with an axle in between will re-expand the rivnut.

Good wheeze. Get some Araldite under the nut before you do that and it'll be fine for a year or two longer.
