I have just got myself this frame and was wondering if anyone could identify a possible make. It has no ID marks, makers name or as far as I can see frame numbers. The seat tube is 27.2mm for what it's worth. Also I have not seen cable guides like these ones. I take it the big hole is a housing guide and the small ones a cable stop and inner cable guide??

All I got was the photo bucket downloader screen telling me about gaviscon lol. I did spy a bit of blue top tube and yes that's a normal cable guide for a rear brake. The ring in front of the cable stop anchors the cable, usually not there on the rear.

this may be a better view, hopefully better for those without heartburn.: There is a similar arrangement on the chainstay for the rear derailleur.

Now that's a classy looking frame . Hint of 1960's about it with the sloping firms and semi wrap round seat stays

Any more pics? Has a Quinn look about it

I have some more photos on the links in my OP, plus a couple more. I didn't think I should put lots of pictures on here taking up space which is why I went for links instead. Are all the pictures hidden by adverts as they are OK on mine, but then they would be

Links now working. I'm in two minds now. I originally thought 1960's with the seat stays and the sloping crown forks plus the over bb guides. Now I see the sloping forks are slightly waisted and the lug points on the head tube are short which points to a later bike as does the two sets of bottle mounts.

Very nice though

No numbers anywhere? Fork steerer maybe. Slotted stem is 1970's nitto and if original dates the frame.

I will be removing the forks, maybe tomorrow, so I will have a look if any numbers.

It doesn't really matter what make it is. It looks pretty standard so I don't anticipate many problems on the rebuild. I have another road bike where the frame is a touch too small so I hope to strip that and rebuild it onto this frame.

@compo thats is a nice looking frame for sure like @midlife says very classy , hard to say but does the paint look original ?

Not too sure on the paint. I would say yes it's original but could be completely wrong. I real life, and polished up, the colour is very similar to some Bianchi's when they are getting on a bit and slightly faded. If it is original I find it strange that there are no decals or makers names anywhere on the frame, not even faint marks or anything where they were. I spent the afternoon transferring bits from my bike that is a bit small to this frame. I still need to cable the frame and set things up, but that wont take long. if I like it then later on I may strip it again and have it powder coated. One problem, one of the BB threads is a bit dodgy, I couldn't tighten it properly. when I removed the original cup half the thread came out with it. I will have to get and fit a threadless cartridge, easy and inexpensive to do so no great problem. Anyway, this is progress so far. the biggest job will be washing it to get rid of the greasy finger marks all over it!
