Do you have a tape measure? I'd measure top tube, seat tube and stack and find roadbikes with comparable sizing. Then go try them out

You should also be able to find the geometry charts for the Dawes online via google. Size wise it depends what the 53cm refers to as there's no standard labelling

A 53cm frame is just under a 21inch frame. That is from centre of the bottom bracket to the top of the seat tube, C-C. Touring bike geometry is different from road bikes. A road bike frame of the same height may be too short as the top tube,(crossbar) may be shorter than the tourer you have now.
As Vickster says, take your measurements of your current bike, and when you find a bike you like just measure the frame. The bike shop will help you to find the correct fit.
