Martin, I have a 10:56 left, if User10571 doesn't.

Best of luck Simon for what looks like another excellent FNRttC in prospect especially with all the night sky activity! Can't make this one! Feeble excuse I'm riding a KPRC 10 TT on Saturday and then off to my son Tim's Stag Party in readyness to depart for the CTC Birthday Rides on Sunday. Best wishes also to Mice I hope your gears are working well now after the wet Brighton run. Seems like you had a good weekend on the North & South Downs so your climbing legs are improving.
Plan to see you all on the "Marlets" marshalling at Chipstead so get ready to bare left around the bend at the top of Portnall Rd/Coulsdon Lane and junction with How Lane/High Rd early Saturday morning 3 Sept.

That all sounds like a good weekend Fanjio although I'm sorry it clashes with FNRttC Bognor. I have, as you have kindly noticed, been practicing hills and gears since Brighton. Apparently it is improving ...! Looking forward to seeing you on the Martletts Ride.

I am hoping for an improvement in the weather forecast as the latest one sent by Dellzeqq is diabolical!

I'm going to have to drop out of this ride, even though it was to be my first FNRttC after several months of medically imposed exclusion.

I'm likely to have two new cats on my hands by Friday night. One will have been in the house less than 24 hours, and she's only around 2 months old, so it's not really fair to leave them alone for all that long yet.

I expect to help with marshalling the Martlets ride in September, and most of the other rides later in the year, but not this one.

Hi Tim

Sorry to hear you won't be able to make this after all, but I hope your recovery from the medical intervention has gone well.

Sounds like you're getting at least one kitten rather than a cat - I hope they settle in well! I wonder whether they will be able to make a contribution to the weather forecasting!

The weather might be the least of our worries. I wonder whether Simon has a plan for riding through riot-stricken south London dressed in what the police will undoubtedly characterise as anarchist symbols.

Hopefully everything will have calmed down by then....

I'm going to Suffolk on Sunday too - maybe we'll bump into each other (not literally I hope) :hello:

Great look forward to seeing you! Fanjio

Not wishing to sound like a harbinger of doom, but to be honest, I think the current situation is something we need to take a little less frivolously.
This opportunist rioting/looting, call it what you will, seems to be getting ever more indiscriminate in the areas being attacked.

Exactly! I would only quibble over inclusion of the word "opportunistic". These aren't people seizing opportunities presented to them by e.g. natural disaster or security lapses. No, these are packs of feral, amoral delinquents "creating their own opportunites". Smash N Grab. And then Run.

Nope. For the first time I'm praying for a nice light drizzle for Friday night. Best guarantee of peace.

Every shopping centre (and even some corner shops) seems to have been done around here last night. SE London has been emptied. Which must make Balham/Tooting/Mitcham tempting.
