FNRttC Friday Night Ride to the Coast - Bognor Regis 12th August 2011

The off-roading will be the walk with the bike kind, (except when lifting them over stiles). Nothing to worry about, honest...

And mind the electric fence at the first stile.

not unless you get Stuart Hall involved to commentate the whole way around -listening to that would be the real challenge

evening all , just a quick question on the route - in terms of the "bumpy with a bit of off roading" is it going to ok doing this with 25mm tyres or do i need to look at something a bit more robust.

please tell me there isnt any gravel - i hate gravel as it always brings out the "best" in my skids / falls
I do it on 23s

metal bikes! Pah!

100 miles in the last 3 days and no back pain so it looks like I'll finally make this one, albeit on the tourer (don't worry simon I'll take the rack off!). If anyone can help me to stop the brakes from honking before the off I will reward them with beer!

I'm going to have to drop out of this ride, even though it was to be my first FNRttC after several months of medically imposed exclusion.

I'm likely to have two new cats on my hands by Friday night. One will have been in the house less than 24 hours, and she's only around 2 months old, so it's not really fair to leave them alone for all that long yet.

I expect to help with marshalling the Martlets ride in September, and most of the other rides later in the year, but not this one.

Strikes a chord Becs! For me, July was a story of a lot of knee pain, a pulled leg muscle, general whole body "don't wanna do this..." complaints resulting on DNF on any ride over 10 miles.

100 miles in the past week (80 of it in the past 3 days, 50 of that just yesterday) and everything seems a-okay.

Brakes a bit squealy here too from yesterday's showers and road grit, but hopefully I'll have that sorted myself before Friday so as not to compete with the frogs round Rusper golf course.

Do not touch suspicious objects
Squealing brakes and cycling-unfriendly pains seem to be the order of the day. Thankfully my knee is now quite happy after raising my saddle a whole centimetre. Will remove mice from brakes before the ride, I wouldn't want to be one of those brakers.
