Snow!?

(also, does anyone have a spare heavy hitting front light for Friday night? The 'country lane' light had to go back to the manufacturers this morning, quite possibly as a result of that jaunt to Whitstable)

I always have a Fenix LD20 with spare batteries as a backup that you're welcome to borrow.I've also got a Moon XP300 lamp which is brighter, but it doesn't much like the cold! I can bring that along if you need the extra lumens.

Sun, moon, sea and possibly snow. Exciting times!

What's all this talk of snow? It's only October, FFS! I'm still waiting for summer to make an appearance, you know.

I might be able to help. It's a high power CREE LED torch with a handlebar mount. It lights up country lanes pretty well. I have a couple and appropriate Lithium rechargeable cells. It's also very well protected against rain...

Thanks McWobble, I'd hate to deprive you of your backup lighting or kill your other one with the elements, so if Steve's hardy Cree torch can fit on a 31.8 bar and wouldn't be missed until sunrise, then that'd be perfect!

31.8mm? That's a bigger diameter than my seat tube. However, just checked it, and with the thinner of the two rubber "shims" (for want of a better term) it will easily fit. The beam pattern is moderately tight with a very bright centre but a decent amount of "spill". I'll also have a third light along as a backup using the same lithium cells. Not as bright, smaller, but zoomable so you can take your pick. Both will go in the same handlebar carrier (as will most torch-like lights). You'll probably need to swap cells about half way, so I'll pass on three of them. It has a few power & flash settings so it all depends, but three cells will give about 8 hours on full power.

I will be riding an ancient metallic pink(ish) Raleigh Dynatech road bike if you want to identify me (or I'll hang around Simon 'till we make contact).

nb. none of these are those little 7DaySHop Cree lights that are talked about on the fnrttc site which are misleadingly described as 3W in the ads (I measured one that I bought and they it only draws just over 1W at max). This is much brighter.

Super white with a marble effect...

Ohh, no, I still have a slight tan from my holiday in Spain and the chill will make me work harder and so thus forth, they shall be warm and glowing... unless ANYONE gets a puncture and I have to stop... and then, I shall consider offering the use of my thighs, as a sort of human-cum-bike crusher and said recipient will never blight us again..

You've not actually sobered up yet since Spain have you? It shows.
