Andrew, what are you doing train-wise? When I checked, Chiltern were OK for Friday but 'major works' over the rest of the weekend, are you just chancing it?

Be nice to do this one, especially as it appears to have taken on a rather abstemious tone, which of course suits me!

Don't know if I can or not yet anyway, work an' stuff, like...sigh...

What. Buying - or drinking? Give me a break Ed. Actually I took a bargain price plywood chair photo just for you on Saturday - I'll just go and get it... hang on a mo.

See that? £20 - a bargain.

When I finally got home on Saturday after being led astray I looked at my lovely pink and green Brompton (it won't get nicked and if it does it should be easy for the boys to recover!) and wondered why I hadn't joined Olaf in his impressive and determined display to Southend . As I have plans for some summer Brompton madness to Dunwich I thought I might leave the very boring American at home and head to the seaside on some British excellence instead.

Does anyone else fancy making a party of it?

As they say in the office 'Fire up the Brompton'

Why Titus doesn’t wear lycra, despite a cheeky Essex chap who enquired on the train “mate, why don’t you wear tight stuff like the rest of em?”

I didn't know your lover was from the other side of the pond Titus... Anyway, all this talk is just Brompton Oratory.

All this talk of hills and off roading is making me think I might need a new set of cleats after this one!

I vote for the route with the fewest lumps, but that's because I have to work so hard to get my own lumps uphill! :-)

There are TECs who will accompany you becs, and give you all the encouragement you need. Dell has a specialist team for this sort of thing.

<Groan!> I'm not yet sure what I'm going to do about trains. The Chiltern website says "major changes" for both that Friday and Saturday, but I haven't been able to get more details out of them. I'll probably book a pair of advance tickets from Virgin - though I'm not looking forward to the experience (both of booking and travelling!): Virgin seem to delight in making it as hard as possible to travel with a bike.

Perhaps you'd be better off with Great Western from/to Oxford?

PS: I'm sure the abstemious theme will suit you!

I've actually given up the B double O Zee E for Lent, couple of weeks in and I'm as grumpy as f*ck!

Well stop Lending it then, and drink up man!

Just a reminder the train back to London is currently £2.45 (advance booking with railcard) if booked through SouthernRailway.com. Plus free bike reservation if you look very carefully at the tiny link on the confirmation page.

Hopefully the day will be glorious and company enthralling and I shall ride home. But at that price insurance comes cheap if inclement or I suffer a mechanicl or body failure ... I booked the 10:30 which should just give time for an odd bevvy at the cafe ...
