Do I presume its the standard East Coast Train arrangements with cycles in the 'goods' van at the far end of the train? Do you bother to lock?

They scratched my frame badly last time (squuezing too many in as the previous train had been cancelled).

yes it is. I tend to hang around and defend my bike against llate arrivals with MTBs and (I can scarcely type the word) panniers!
