It's my local road.
...hence that part of the offer wasn't particularly serious.

now just need to sort out what to do with the precious bike while im working all day!
Cracking ride report there, Andrew.

And thanks again for the tows and waiting.
I caught the Northern train back from Hull to York this afternoon. There were up to five bikes at a time in the bike space and they were all allowed on, although I think the conductor tried to dissuade the fifth guy before letting him on because he was only travelling a couple of stops. With some clever stacking and a bike in a disabled space somewhere, you needn't worry about catching a train back to York.
It can be a problem if there are prams and/or wheelchairs and/or awkward gits with lots of luggage.
Don't ask me how I know this
If you do miss out on a space, feed beer, coffee and clenbutarol to someone who knows the way and persuade them to guide you back to York the short way, which is something approximating last year's route. If it's me, we may even do a 'cracking' pace if you like. Basically, I don't think anyone need worry about trains.
I'm going back to Manchester and I already have bike reservations so drugs won't be required. However, if you have some spare............
The speed of the train was about what we managed last Saturday going back to Darlington (Edit to add it was a YACF ride) but the effort required was much greater
