This feels a bit harsh. If you make a list of the possible rivers, it won't be very long. And it shouldn't be too hard to figure out what the walls might've been built for. It's a bridge in Wales with a big wall.
There's not a right lot to go on!
I have a cryptic clue ready.

I think it probably IS enough to go on! I haven't spotted it yet but I already found another bridge with similar railings so I reckon I might not be too far away. I'll give it another 15 minutes now. If I don't find it, and nobody else beats me to it, I will take another look tomorrow some time. This feels a bit harsh. If you make a list of the possible rivers, it won't be very long. Don't worry, if everyone's really stuck I have a cryptic clue ready.
The map I linked to shows the railway lines in use, which helps to make their features stand out more clearly.By pure coincidence, that is the area that I had been looking at. I was also looking at a map showing disused railway lines; you might be surprised by how many that there are in that area!
I think that I need to switch to my laptop - my ageing eyesight isn't great with small screens. I think that I can see something familiar but I need to 'see the big picture'!
I'm on the laptop now and it does look like what I thought it was. Switching to the OS map now...There are details much clearer on my photo than the corresponding google image...
I'm guessing Peak District near Buxton to start my searching
