I have one of those coffee makers with the little guy in a hat on the side, you know the one, it has three parts - the bottom is to hold the water, the middle bit hold the coffee grinds, you screw on the top and put in on the stove and the coffe comes up. How many mistakes is it possible to make with this simple set up?

Yesterday rushing to leave the house I put my helmet on my head but it didn't fit very well as there was already a different helmet on my head!

I watched a fascinating BBC programme last night about James Cook the explorer and cartographer. During his second voyage his mental stability began to deteriorate and on his third voyage at the age of 50 he got into an unnecessary barney with some locals in Hawaii who slaughtered him. Watching the programme it struck me that Cook was probably going through exactly the same mental stress that many men experience as they approach their 50s, commonly known as the male menopause. The symptoms seemed entirely familiar to me.

I got very annoyed when I couldn't find my helmet just before setting off for a forum ride. After several grumpy minutes I realised that I was already wearing it!

On another occasion I thought that somebody had stolen my bike. It is a very unusual steel Basso and mine was the only one I'd ever seen before. If I had been on my Cannondale it would have been an understandable mistake, but I was riding the Basso at the time!

Seeing this thread again reminds me of something that happened on Saturday.

I got ready to go out on the bike. Put my shoes on, put my coat on, put my helmet on. I got a couple of miles up the road when I noticed something wasn't right. I'd only thought I'd put my helmet on. It was on the sofa when I got home.
