Nice

220ish BHP?

I never had it on the rollers but expect around that, ran the smaller G60 pulley was hitting 1 bar boost before 2000 rpm iirc.

Goes really well on the road, liked the period parts rather than slinging a 20v Turbo in there.

My proposed purchase of a Golf fell through after the front sub frame was found to be rotten.

Trying to find a car at the moment is a bloody nightmare.

Had a couple of hours chopping nearside to bits tonight, slightly better condition but still getting the full works.

Same as everything I own or work on, will be a one off at the end of it (bloomin ocd kicking in again..).

Well 13 months after we started the Golf is back on the road.

MOT last Saturday, passed with a clean sheet, no advisories!.

Yesterday was fighting with the new fuel, not a patch on what you could buy 17 years ago..

Me and my lad went out for a 20 mile shakedown run, think he was quite surprised how much poke it's got and we haven't even opened the taps up fully yet!.

Another few hours of road tuning before I'm happy to do another trackday, Donnington I think for old times sake.

It was a completely uneconomical repair, but having owned her for 22 years she deserved another go round the block.

Had a few waves and thumbs up while driving, you don't see many on the road now!.

Full build here if anyone is interested.

Re-wrote my Idle code (ASM assembly language) for the Golf ECU last week.

Probably 12 hours in an 700 lines of code later it has made a significant improvement to driveability (sp?).

Worst bit was working out my 17 year old code, took a fair while then plain sailing after that!.

We are now on Project GTO!.

My daughter loves working on the cars and she's had her eye on the GTO for a wile now.

I'm not really a fan of driving but have done both for a bit of quality father and son / daughter time. That's the most enjoyable bit.

I was chatting to my daughter and we were going through the code on the Golf, showing what does what and why. I think she was secretly impressed when it started first time on the new firmware lol!.

I passed this thread over many a time simply because of the title, thinking it was about the game with balls and sticks.
I'm not a car man either but do find stuff like this fascinating.
Great work and great to have that dad/kids time doing it.

She's asking when she can start at ours as our Saturday lass, never afraid to get stuck in and always there to help her dad ❤️.
