still not answered my earlier question though - how has the service declined..? Nobody seems to be able to put their finger on that one.

how about the fact that they can't get their stock levels correct? I have ordered more than once where it was multiple items of the same thing - only to be told there was not stock at "their main warehouse" and I would have to wait a week or more whilst stock was moved from storage to the main warehouse before it could be shipped to me. In stock and immdiately available for delivery are 2 different things which their website does not make clear and their customer service is less than helpful on. Usually if I have paid for priotory despatch I do not expect to wait a week for something to be moved from storage before it is dispatched and I rarely pay extra if I don't have to. this has happened more than once to me causing me to cancel my order and go elsewhere. Usually somewhere I can phone to check stock levels and availability for despatch. This would be my main issue with them now.

A couple of years ago, it became quite common for orders to take a week or more before they were dispatched - nothing to do with posting or the postal company/courier delays. Though in all fairness they do seem to have managed to get that issue sorted to a point, it has just left a mark on their reputation which they still need a better stain remover for.

I still get the haribo though.

Well I take delivery next day usually, free postage, perhaps it's because of the location they're sending to and Royal Mail have more capacity for sending to me, I don't know. I emailed customer support last Tuesday evening and had a reply reply on Wednesday morning.

So we've established that you mileage may vary when it comes to online shop service, hardly worth stopping the press for, and definitely not worth getting your winter knickers so twisted over that you need to express such bitter disappointment over it.

Advertised stock levels are a bit hit and miss I must admit, no skin off my nose though.

I find Wiggle okay but they are an online retailer, not a friend or member of the family. I couldn't care less if they put a little bag of sweets in the box.

I compare their prices with CRC, SJS, bike-discount.de and Rose. I look at the total cost including shipping. If it's close, these days I go with CRC because I feel like I want their commitment to sponsoring the Cycle Show on TV to pay off for them. But my first loyalty is to myself in looking for the lowest price.

I've bought a shed load of stuff from Wiggle over the last 8 years
I would estimate that they have upset me on about 2% of my orders; which is considerably less than all other online shops I've ever used.
They do make mistakes though and their customer service isn't always 100% but it's about as good as it gets online shopping.

I will add that their prices are not great these days, and I tend to use them less now.

An extra note regarding using cheap German onliners - I tried this, I emailed to double check that the item listed was exactly what I would get as I didn't want the hassle and cost of returning - they confirmed it so I ordered - what happened? They sent me something different! When I mailed them they said their supplier could no longer supply the item I wanted!!! I said "well why didn't you tell me" and their response was that the new item did the same thing! Couldn't believe this was happening after I had specifically asked them before ordering. Anyway, got refunded in the end. Will stay in UK in future - easier for returns if nothing else.

This is just my point. Wiggle used to be so good, like your LBS online and at very reasonable prices. The trouble is that they have grown too big, too quickly, so whilst it may be good for their business, it is no longer a personal service.

A large French company bought Wiggle about 4 years ago IIRC
