OP if your wife also has an iPhone you can use the "find friends" feature. It's free but it does rely on getting data coverage. One advantage (or disadvantage) is you can see each other's location at any time.
Find My Phone, or whatever its called. Set it up, give your Missus the passwords etc
At times round here you could be an hour* away from the nearest property. Unless you're willing to chance a road/track you don't know.If your phone is flat in an emergency, knock on the nearest property and ask to use their phone.

*At walking speed.
@PaulSB, can't comment on stents or their impact, but don't let epilepsy put you off cycling. I've had one specialist tell me I'm less likely to have a siezure doing something I like doing. I've never had one whilst cycling.
Often a payphone to fall back on though. No different to days of old and we alll survived then without a phone on our person
The OP is wanting a reliable tracking device to reassure his wife following his epilepsy diagnosis. So in the event of his potential emergency, knocking on someone's door is not going to work.If your phone is flat in an emergency, knock on the nearest property and ask to use their phone.

In those situations that remote it'd also be likely no phone signal.
