I hear it banded around that local authorities receive grants from central government for cycle infrastructure in their areas.

I've not been able to find any evidence of this, is it a myth?

Cheers, Matt

This could relate to the DfT's Local Sustainable Transport Fund.

There is a project about to start in Greater Manchester under this: http://cyclemanchest...uk/main/?p=1624

I can tell you for a fact that Sheffield has received money directly from the DfT for 'cycle infrastructure' in the area. You might be disappointed (or perhaps not) to learn what it is though.

You might think it a myth as it is not very large sums of money in many cases and often hidden as parts of pots of other money.
