Got a 5m counterpoise under the carpet in the shack.

Im fairly limited by a covenant that prohibits external antennae, hence the all but invisible long wire. The ATU in the Xiegu is supposed to be one of the best, almost supernaturally good, so should make light work of it.

Indeed, never tried WSPR but once im fully au fair with the Xiegu ill get the interface and give it a try. Low power modes have always interested me. I never saw the point in high beams and massive power - theres so little challenge in that you may as well pick up a phone.

Id also like to learn morse, but ill fijish my Uni course first.

Excellent - I took my morse test at Portishead radio station way back in 1975, I've just started getting back into CW I find it a good way to keep my ancient brain active!!

I've had so much fun over the years with low power and modes like FT8 are perfect for low power so I hope you get some good results!!

XHdata D-808 ordered for camping duties.

I can use it as a regular radio for entertainment, or for listening in to HF ham and SW broadcast. Very high performance from a compact unit. Super.

XHdata D-808 has arrived. What a brilliant little radio. Fantastic for campervan travels, both DXing and general listening. Ill work out an adapter to run it from the ling wire when at home.

Im an intermediate license holder, held since 2007.

In a sense I may as well not have bothered, since the FL licence was upgraded to 25W and the bands opened up. I've never used more than 20W and 5 or 10 is more my bag.

If you get on HF we could sked a ragchew.
