Why can you not jump start it? That is a new one on me.
I wonder how you would get on in my van if you wanted to open the window - LOL

Electric handbrakes have to be the most stupid addition yet on cars and even more stupid on lorries - a neighbour has one of those hideous Prevoque things, it had broke down and the parking brake had engaged itself, couldn't even push it off to the side of the road, had to leave it in the way of everyone else for a few hours until a specialist truck with axle lift come to tow it away.

Another thing - parking brake is supposed to be your emergency back up braking system, so how is that going to work, press a button and the rear wheels will lock up, and if its wet and you're on a bend then that's you upside down in a ditch.

I really do loathe everything about modern vehicles and all the associated electronic crap that they're all stuffed with.
I totally agree , the only other method of braking you are left with would be engine braking, selecting a low gear.

When I learnt to drive, one of the first thing the local instructors would say to their pupils is 'leave it in gear when parking up, don't rely on the handbrake'. This may have been a Sheffield thing, blessed as we are with an awful lot of very steep roads...

He mentioned electrics, which is why I assumed a jump start.

Come off it, 45 years in the motor trade and I have learned a few things^_^ You would struggle to get the jumper leads to the battery of a C Class, however there are jump off points under the bonnet.

Why would he mention electrics? if he did not mean jump start.

No ,,I mean jump start with leads to the battery it blows fuses and disturbs the cars delicate electronics, you can but its not as simple as most cars ,there's a defined procedure and u. Can't just connect leads from other car and crank it over it'll prob start but blow a few sensors if ure lucky , it may blow the rear module ,and guess what , that's like 600 and requires the car to b hooked up to a diagnostic machine and only certain garages have them ( Mercedes specific) and again u need to pay for that .
So an innocent jump start can cost u a fortune , it's usually a garage recovery job for the simplest of things , stick to bikes lol

What year is it, I need to beef up on this one a bit. Last thing I need to do is stick my power pack on a flat battery which I have to do often in my job and find I have messed it up.
