A long time ago. Our venture scouts were staying in a school near Cheddar Gorge. Being 16 year old halfwits, we were messing around in the school in the dark and one of the lads ran through a 6ft sq panel of georgian wired glass. He left a silhouette like Wylie Coyote. Apart from a bruised elbow, not a mark on him. School Caretaker was a star, put it down to a little mishap. we thought we were (deservedly) getting the bill.
In the fourth year at school, I'd a fit not far into a cross country run. At least what I remember of it. A call back to the school got another teacher, in a car to come out and collect me, and two volunteers to take me back to school.

All went well, I was told, upto the point of getting me out of the back of the car. The volunteers lost their grip, and I broke free. Running straight through the wired safety glass on the door, before continuing on my way in the building.
I was found in the changing room, naked, and with not a cut. Sat as though waiting for someone.

The rest of that day, very few people came near me. I'd given the teacher who had been sent out to collect me a shock, I was told that later.

On holiday abroad once, possibly Spain, my wife was on the balcony, I walked out to join her....BOOM, straight into the glass door. Hit the floor, didnt know what on earth happened.
My wife tried to (poorly) stifle her laughter, I had a bloody nose...
She went to reception and even they struggled to suppress their grins as she told them. Got me a bag of frozen veg off them to fend off the probably impending black eyes which didnt happen thankfully.

I swear their eyes followed me across reception the next morning....

It's the automatic doors that are a PITA, with the last second attempt at an emergency stop because you think it's not going to open in time.

It was 1953 we were shopping in Koln west Germany. As we approached a book shop a man walked into the shops glass door and it shattered. Luckily my parents went to assist and the British military police were on hand too then an army ambulance took him to hospital, I was seven at the time.
