A thread on beans....what a load of hot air.

Mrs DP once met the aptly named Colin Leakey who, at the time, was trying to breed less farty beans. He'd made his own portable fart measuring device - essentially a hose which he shoved up his bum connected to a balloon.

He filed a patent application for the device entitled "Improvements in or Relating to Gas Collection" which included the memorable description:

"The end of the tube inserted into the subject is apertured and covered with a gauze filter to prevent the ingress of solid matter. This end of the collection tube is also covered with a gas permeable bladder with the distal end of the tube being connected to a gas-tight collecting bag."

In other words, you get only what you’re after and nothing more.

It's quite likely that standard Heinz beans now 'taste mank' because they have less sugar and certainly less salt than a few years ago. That is the case with quite a lot of tinned products and I suppose it is A Good Thing.

The back-room boffins got over the salt thing, as they did with butter, you can heap that in again now - common sense has to prevail sometimes.

Or mayonnaise.

Are we seriously having a conversation about Baked Beans? Go to a shop but 1 of every can, and have a taste test.

Now, if this was about Marmite or Tuna I'd be interested.
