I haven't eaten them for the past year. I'm sure they changed the recipe and they don't only look 'mank' but taste it too!
I now use Branston Baked Beans.

Must try these Branston beans then, because I too have found Heinz to be a pale tasteless imitation of what they were (and not so long ago either). I even started adding extra tomato sauce before heating them to try and improve the flavour. Barbecue sauce or Reggae Reggae sauce also help to negate the blandness that is the modern day Heinz baked bean!

Make sure you don't get the low sugar/salt ones, they're vile. Standard baked beans need pepping up anyway, smoked chilli paste is good, keeps the rest of the family off them too.

I've never been taken in by over priced 'branded' beans. I buy cheap cheap beans... a nob of butter and drop of milk sorts out the tomato sauce, as does half a spoonful of curry powder when I'm feeling adventurous.

The husband of a lady i used to work with would only eat Heinz beans... but unbeknown to him, she had cheap beans hidden and a couple of tins of Heinz on display. Whenever she made his beans, he got the cheap ones and never noticed.

i use tc's recipe for spicy beans, much better than anything Heinz or Branston make! But Richp, please feel free to fill yourself with sugar, fat and salt un-necessarily
