Matthew, I know the feeling. I feel I have let myself down as well. I have done about the same as you, gone a couple of months with very little riding, gained a stone and started feeling bad too. I got back out today and plan to get back into the riding routine. I really noticed how the time off had taken it's toll on my fitness.

Time to turn that train around and get it going the right direction!

Tis sad but it just takes about 2 weeks to see a decline in our current fitness level  don't succumb to the dark side..... ride!!! :bicycle::bicycle::bicycle:

Try building up a good level of fitness then going away on an overseas business trip for two weeks when you do zero exercise and drink loads of beer and eat loads of hotel food. When you get back you'll find your legs feel strong after the break but your CV fitness has dropped and can't keep up with your legs. It's awful.

Matthew you know the answer. Just ride the bike to college and work, as the nicely heated car has won.

A stone is good going though! Your Strava says you've not done much since getting the car.

It's been the warmest winter for years....
.

maybe so.. but it's still been a long way from warm :cold:

2 weeks away from cycling was bad for me; so much so that there was a couple of times on Wednesdays commute when I was climbing up the hills so slow that my Garmin thought I had stopped and went to auto-pause.

A month away from the bike sounds like a nightmare. Quick, sell your car & get back out on your bike and before you know it you'll be a speedy young whippet again

I wanted to go MTBing down Snowdon, but it hasnt snowed  I might take the racer down the valley so I can have a go at the Horseshoe.
MTB down Snowdon looked fun, couple of lads doing it when I walked the place in 2012. Don't cheat and take the train up though, you have to ride both ways..

I dont even think bikes are allowed on the train. I would just stick the bike on the carrier, drive up to the car park, cycle up and down, go have some lunch and a hot choccy, then head home. I might take a few mates as well if they want to come.
