Anyone have any suggestions for a new heat pump dryer in the 300-400quid range please?
Also the dryer will be in the garage, which can get down to 8degC, is that a problem? Based Aberdeenshire on the coast.
We used to run a Hotpoint condensor dryer, but after a decade and a change of PCB its fried the socket so time for a new one.
We have a PV storage setup and get cheap Octopus power for the EV overnight so a programmable timer unit would be useful.

One point, returned by a Google search .....

Installation & Environment: Both types are ventless, meaning they can be placed anywhere as they collect water in a tank. However, heat pump dryers perform best in warm rooms (above \(10^{\circ }C\)) and are not ideal for cold garages.

So probably a condenser dryer works best for you?

Also, when choosing a new machine, look for the location of the water tank. If it's going to be on the floor, then a tank near the top will be best, but if it's going to be stacked, then a tank low down could be best.

Having had condenser dryer in the past with various issues we went for basic simple dryer as less to go wrong.

We bought a Bosch heat pump dryer last year, after our elderly condenser dryer finally gave up the ghost.
One thing that swung it for us was that the price was only slightly more than a condenser, plus the promise of significantly improved energy economy. But one reason electricity consumption is lower is that it struggles to dry anything. In fact, we avoid the smart programmes and stick to a timed, fixed temperature programme, which kind of defeats the point.

We have a Hotpoint heat pump type , had it maybe a couple years.
They dont dry thoroughly but they do make that clear.
Water tray is at the top ..
Filters need cleaning very regularly.

T shirts are often the worst to dry, I often find myself doing them twice...which of course defeats the.point. TBF, its only heavy t sgirts but...
I find them a little irritating myself, they need a bit more management .
As far as cheaper to operate ? I have no measure to compare to.

Hanging on a line in your garden or on an airer indoors is much more energy efficient than either type.
