Hi. Given the over-inflation issues because of the heat how much are people under-inflating their road tyres. I run Conti Gatorskins which are 120PSI which I do inflate to said pressure. I am hearing about tyres exploding and went straight out and bled off a few pounds from my two roadies but I'm not sure what to inflate them back too.

120psi?!
How much do you weigh?
You can’t have any teeth left after rattling them out!
Even at 93kg I’ve never inflated a tyre above 100!

Tyres are made to accommodate varying usual temperatures around the World. They are note UK specific. The PSI on the tyres do not indicate temp for the same reason.

Its really nothing to worry about.
As for inflating your tyres to 120? As someone has said, hope your fillings are still in place.

They're fine thanks! - at least they were this morning!!

Tyres just don't go pop in 30c. 100 PSI in 25c tyres

Apparently they have been. If the tyre is inflated to full pressure as I tend to in summer, in extreme temperature spikes the air in the tube expands effectively taking the PSI over the recommended threshold and - BOOM!!

Definitely try lower pressures. This is a good guide and the weight quoted is per wheel.

My bike computer at the cafe stop this week said 46 degrees. I'm sure riding is ok but leaving in the sun can cause a blown tyre.

I remember in the Alps one day about 100 of us on a hairpin waiting for a TdF TT to come past. One tyre exploded in the heat causing much laughter.

And then we all sheepishly went back to the bikes to check it wasn't ours.

120 psi LOL you will travel slower.
I’m 70 front 80 back & guess what? The tires don’t bounce off the rough roads they instead comfortably glide across.

When I ran them at significantly lower pressures I was getting loads of punctures - upped the pressure and hey-presto! - not one puncture since...
