The only I've ever been bitten by was an alsation. I was doing my paper round at the time, on my bicycle. I wasn't wearing a helmet; they hadn't been invented back then.

One of our dogs, the new border collie, could do with a bit of a bath and a clip as he looks a bit like a rasta dog, that is, dreadlocks. Should we change his name? What would the panel recommend?

I am well aware that the helmet debate is a brave issue to get involved with but I will provide my personal input.

A helmet may not save your life should you be hit by 2 tons of car travelling at 30mph, TBH the rest of your body will probably be a write off so why live with it.

However, as someone who used to race and train intensively I've had my fair share of falls, generally not involving any motor vehicles but occasionally street furniture and tarmac. When racing leather helmets offered little protection and I've been knocked unconcious  at least ten times and hospitalised (5 days due to concussion) from my mid-teens to mid-twenties and trust me a helmet wouldv'e prevented the migraines that I now suffer.

While I can understand it's a choice and should IMO always remain so I would always recommend a helmet for this reason, a small slow fall and bump on the head can cause many problems at the time and later in life.

Also since wearing a helmet my head hasn't touched the floor once.

A dog bit me on the hand once when I was ten. That dog is dead now.
Nice one.

Bloke is walking a dog and meets little old lady walking towards him. She likes the dog and says "Awww, isnt he cute. Does your dog bite?". He says 'no'. So she tries to stroke the dog and it nearly takes of her hand. She says "I thought you said your dog doesn't bite". He says "It aint my dog.".

What's his name at the moment? Is it Dreadlocks? If so, the natural choice after shaving would be Dread (i.e. minus the locks).

Natty, his name is Natty.
That's a nice name - I don't think you should change it. btw, border collie pups are some of the cutest!...

yeh but, how can I get the bugger from bogarding?
What's 'bogarding' mean?

I was twice bitten by the same dog, could've been a rottweiler, after some kid around the corner kept letting it loose on me, after the second time, and only after the second time was it put down. This was around 12 years ago when I was 7, I still have a very faint pale spot on my right forearm when the teeth went in.

but but.... they talk of meteor showers... do they not reach the ground then? would not an umbrella be of more use than a helmet?

Did you know that in French an umbrella is a 'parapluie'? Literally, 'for rain' - as a parasol is 'for sun'. Cool huh? But there's no parameteor to my knowledge. :rain:
