Hi guys, just got a free bike off back street (ask home owner for permission) it needs fixing up but looks in decent enough condition

I'm hoping it won't cost so much to fix up.

I've searched online to see if you can save a rusted chain and it's doable. As long as it isn't too severe.

I'm gonna have a better look tomorrow and post some photos in the bike repair part of this site if it will let me.

Well this one has been saved after some link manipulation and lubricant

I wouldn't spend much on it. Just get it running. I friend of mine 'turns round' bikes like this all the time, picks them up for free or very low cost, fixes them, and punts on for a small profit. He spends very little, and will often use bikes for spares only.

I'm hoping I can save most of the parts. It's for myself so not looking to make a profit.

I'll be happy with spending £100 as it was free.
