Quickly drove me mad when I broke my leg and started to get more mobile. Mrs B bought me an airfix kit in an attempt to stop me hobbling about in the garage trying to work on a car. Lasted a couple of days, then back in the garage again, at which point, she gave up bollocking me and I got the  treatment.
I bought a trike. :cycle:

God damn! I'm going nuts, I NEED to ride a bike but I know I daren't. I am wearing a big old chunky neck brace to restrict movement of my broken neck while it heals. Even though I am feeling like things are going well I know one false movement could put me back to square one OR WORSE!
As an alternative I keep looking at my broken bike and thinking I can do something with it. Again my situation frustrates me. Until the bike has been inspected I cannot touch it and it must remain in the post crash condition. I cannot even take it apart to properly assess the full extent of the damage. Even if I could, I shouldn't, in case I strain myself trying to work on it
I sooooo want to take the hybrid for a little potter to the park with the kids. Just a little trip to spin the legs, but I don't even know if I would be able to sit on a bike and look ahead and dare not risk trying.

It is really, really frustrating and I just found out today my first neck assessment is not until the 21st! That is like, forever...... I'm not sure I can cope

You are going to have to wait. Think it was March before I got out on a bike after mine in November. Remember, minimum 6 weeks for a fracture to heal. I was spaced out of my head for most of those 6 weeks when I did mine, but was in no condition to do anything in my storm trooper body brace for 4 months.

Puzzle game procrastinator!
I went out for a ride on my cyclocross bike this afternoon and was heading towards Hebden Bridge on the road and getting irritated by the traffic. There are always jams in the town at the weekend so I decided to get onto the Rochdale canal towpath and head through town that way instead. I soon remembered why I hadn't done that in the first place - lots of families out walking, which somewhat impedes progress!

Anyway ... I was just approaching the town when I passed a family of 4 who had kindly stepped to one side to let me by. Suddenly, I heard someone call my name. I didn't recognise the man talking to me until he took his cap off and revealed his hunky Skoliness, complete with a rather fetching neck brace! He had decided not to spend the weekend stuck at home so he and the family had come over to the Calder Valley for a day out and were having a (neck-)bracing walk.

Skolly and I had a quick natter while his family stood by. I think I may have committed a bit of a faux pas though ... Skolly had just told me about his accident. I HAD noticed that his wife looked slightly worried to hear him say that he would be back on his bike ASAP, but it didn't stop me mentioning that I had nearly had the same kind of accident happen to me a few weeks ago (details HERE). Hopefully it didn't make her worry even more!

It was good to see you out and about, Skolly! I hope you enjoyed your walk? :hello:

Great to be out Colin. Mrs Skol was surprised at how vibrant Hebden Bridge was and asked why I hadn't taken her there before? I didn't dare tell her if she would ride her bike more we could go to lots more places like that.....
Have had a super day, me and the boys took Mrs Skol to a local Italian to dine this evening for mothers day. Absolutely knackered now, it has been a big day and perhaps I pushed myself a bit too much? Not sore, just tired.

At least you didn't get a colleague visiting you in hospital tell your wife you'd been knocked off a couple of weeks earlier (I got away with bonnet surfing only that time). Dobbed me in.

Glad you are getting out.

Saw the spine specialist last Wed. No set back in the healing process but I did get some bad news as found out I am starting from a worse condition than first thought
Also had a day in A&E on Sun. Must have tried to turn my head or roll over in the early hours and was woken by a loud 'crack' and agony! Was in pain all day and still sore as hell on Mon but no damage found. Medical conclusion was I must have popped a joint or pulled something muscular? Scared the hell out of me...... Can still feel it now.
Otherwise all good, neck brace is driving me nuts and I'm going stir crazy because I can't drive or cycle or fettle!

mate could have been worse. Gonna have to sit on your hands for a month or three.

I'll bring a jigsaw round.
