grew up with the green ones in the bathroom. We always called them penguin tiles.
The kitchen in my current flat still has the yellow version behind my splashbacks.

I remember this house in the 90s when it was a squat. That wallpaper would be the first thing to come off.

We had those in the same house as the fish tiles.

We then moved (in 1978) to an older house and that had "chicken" tiles too. My dad was never a great one for decorating and my mum never did more than hint about things she wanted doing. The tiles were still on the kitchen walls when I cleared and sold it in 2024.

I'd love to see a post about houses that meet the definition of hideous (my Shorter OED gives the main definition as frightful, dreadful, horrible; hence, horribly ugly or unpleasing, revolting) but not one that's poking fun at more elderly, vulnerable and/or dead people who can't defend themselves unless they are Cyclechatters.

I suspect that many "celebrity" homes would meet my definition of hideous

Yeahbut one can easily paint over grey and white, while replastering artex or removing woodchip paper is an expensive, quadruple pita!
My 10 yo bathroom is white, tiled from floor to ceiling in large white tiles with a shade of grey.
My new kitchen is a shade of grey with stainless steel build in ovens (yes, I got 2!), walls pale green.
I prefer to add colour by accessorize - blinds, ornaments, etc.
I'm 63

Having spent my life in design I'm forever amazed at what people like.
The current trend that the next generation will vomit at is everything coloured grey and white (apologies if you're bang on trend and live in a monochrome world, but don't say I didn't warn you 😆 ).

I want to scream every time I see a house up for sale near me that has had the obligatory extension of the rear width of the house to include a kitchen/dining/living area with bi-fold and tri-fold doors looking out onto their now diminished garden.

Pretty sure we had green ones in the utility room when I lived in Dumbarton.
