Maybe... got work, then lots of tidying up due to dedicating most of the last ten days to my love of procrastination, then i'm off to Preston to watch The Muffin Men. I could state 'listening to music' as my hobby, but that's just sitting on one's arris and listening... a hobby surely has to involve some sort of physical activity, be it sticking stamps in an album, pushing a paintbrush or playing an instrument or something. I could also cite 'films' as my hobby, but that's just sitting and looking at something, which is in effect just apathy towards doing a more meaningful activity. I like writing though.Whatever. Maybe tomorrow, eh.
Gangbusters by TSR probably, I remember the adverts and there weren't many gangster rpg's. We used to play Call of Cthulhu without any mythos if we wanted gangster stuff.Used to play a bit in my teens, we had the original Basic D&D and back then there was only one Games Workshop which was in Chiswick. There was a Gangster RPG we used to play as well but I can't remember what it was called.
Don't think it was Gangbusters, I was thinking about it last night, I think it may just have been called Gangster.Gangbusters by TSR probably, I remember the adverts and there weren't many gangster rpg's. We used to play Call of Cthulhu without any mythos if we wanted gangster stuff.

They released a very pretty game called 'The One Ring' to do Tolkien again a couple of years ago. Replicates all the walking very well :-) (actually not a bad game, a nice balance between system and game experience). I don't think there's anything on the market (not popular anyway) that is as complicated as MERP was, let alone it's heftier brother Rolemaster.I used to play MERP back in the day...
I never really played any other RPG (apart from a Western based one a couple of times, Boot Hill maybe) so can't really comment on it's complexity compared to others. I was just a player and we had a brilliant games master who ran the whole show. We played it for quite a few years and kept the same character throughout, a hobbit called Sam Frotsbottom... happy days. They released a very pretty game called 'The One Ring' to do Tolkien again a couple of years ago. It's a fun thing to do, there are various one day conventions around the country where you can go and play without any commitment. There are various GM styles although the 'modern' thought is that the game system should support the play style rather than the GM just give a great story by being an excellent performer. Doesn't stop the fact that with GM'd games (there are a fair number that are GMless now, although they are far from mainstream) a good GM papers over an awful lot of cracks.I never really played any other RPG (apart from a Western based one a couple of times, Boot Hill maybe) so can't really comment on it's complexity compared to others.
