Oh, there's one near me. I've cycled past it a few times, and even stopped and visited the nearby Aldi, but never even notice it.

And we could easily pop into the Byfleet branch on the way to Guildford.

Its similar to Poundland, a discount shop. You can buy basic groceries and toiletries, alcohol, soft drinks etc.

Sorry but that is sooooo wrong. As per my post they sell lots and lots of top branded goods.

So a rather downmarket mostly outside London John Lewis instead or a Waitrose home

not far off but probably further downmarket than that to be honest, but the only way poundland and home+bargain are anything alike is that they are both shops and that's as close as it gets

I'm talking branded goods here.
Regular prices......not special offers
Home Bargains seem to be doing very well and expanding.
They have good quality displays and decent staff.
Products (IMO) are not near sell by dates.
Some examples.........
Pack of Cheddars at HBs £0.99.....Sainsburys just under £2.00
Argan shampoo HBs £0.99.....double at Sainsburys.
Kronenburg lager........considerably cheaper at HB.
Lots of other examples.
Not slagging other supermarkets. Just wondering how HBs can do it.

I guess the same as all "Limited choice discounters" Vs "Full-service supermarkets".

Limited choice, bulk purchasing, rapid turnover of stock.
