This is our office banana. It is about 2 months old and under an upturned sweetie tub to keep the flies out and the mould spores in. We are mainly doing it to annoy our boss.

Yellow side of green that way they are a little 'firm' and sweet.

Desert wise i used to have them as a fritter or with a scoop of vanilla, mint choc chip ice cream and garnished with a generous serving of blueberries ontop... Makes a smashing desert!

The good news is that dried bananas are back in stock at the health food shop. A good way of carrying your supplies without ending up with an unspeakable mess at the bottom of your bag.

As i mentioned on Friday, i often take an banana with me to the pub. I did last night. Unfortunately i left it in the car,not realising till i got home. Damn. I could've thrown the skin on the pub's coal fire and watched it sizzle.

Feckin' 'orribel things! xx( Just about palatable if frittered.

There was a old style Chinese cafe in Watford called 'Yummy'. It had been there for ages. About one Saturday a month I'd go in an order the same dish (from the limited* menu), a small lager and sometimes have a banana fritter to finish. It was the greatest. It was in a shopping centre that's now being redeveloped so it closed a few years back. Feeling hungry now.

*this was a good thing, I prefer short menus.

I cannot agree more; I love bananas -probably my favourite fruit -but I eschew anything "banana flavoured". Yeuchh.

There is a special place in hell for creators of "banana flavour", right next to "pineapple flavour". It always reminds me of the Hitchhikers "almost, but not quite, entirely unlike tea".
