just had a thought, not sure i'd be very good in a veladrome, i prefer turning right and i'm sure they always go off to the left

Fixed on the road is so passé - it's all about track bikes and velodromes now

Balls to the stem and lock your legs. Its the only way.
Or have a front brake and resist the pedals.
@ilovebikes, how you brake with no brakes or pedals is to put a foot on the front wheel, or back wheel, or stand on both.
Theres a video of a guy on youtube on a brakeless singlespeed braking like this.

Locally it would seem that brakes aren't needed on road bikes either as they don't stop for junctions or traffic lights.

Many kids on bitsa bikes don't have brakes either, they rely on sticking their foot on the back tyre. Obviously wouldn work on a fixed though.

So would. You haven't lived!

Here we go, Joe. Here's a challenge.

Y'see, I listened to Young 'Un, and I reckon you're no good. You talk him down, and I have watched you diss him, but then I have seen him race.

I bet my Ken Livingstone against your Boris Johnstone (or even a tenner, if you prefer) that you can't win any open youth category at a properly organised, official track meeting within a month from today. You have lots of opportunities...

If you win, I'll be your biggest fan.

Riding brakeless: more possible than it sounds, I've been doing it for the past few days (not out of choice, now got brake caliper bolt to clamp brake cable). Just need to be far more pre-emptive with your speed changes. On fixed gear bikes front brake is emergency only.

Errr Dave, can i just ask you a question here?
Is the talent at the track near me as good as the talent at your track? In theory, i could have a harder job of doing it.
However, i couldnt careless now really. Going by speeds im faster on the road.
But either way, it wont bother me, YC can say hes better then me now. Infact, ill let anyone say there are better then me now.
YC, your better. There you go

Forest town? Don't know for sure.

Young 'un never said he was better than you. I just want to know if you can win a track race.

In fact Joe, you might still have time to enter the Youth Omnium at Newcastle (Under Lyme, not so far from you).

Nah its ok. Id loose. YC can be classed as better then me.

I won the under 18 open TT though, the first one i did. But thats not like the track, and doesnt count. One swollow doesnt make the summer.
