I see that many of you seem to go on regular long rides of 50 miles plus. I am just wondering how far do cc riders go on a ride. Myself, I hardly ever do over 40 miles. That seems to be my mileage and I am happy with that. I did 55 miles once but I don't feel comfortable when too far away from home. Most of my outings are between 20 and 40 miles.
So, be honest and tell us how far you usually go.
Judging by your location it's quite hilly.I generally do between 10 and 25 miles a ride but where I live is really flat in comparison.

Just back from an 85 miler today, but pretty flat. Last weekend was 65 miles but 6500ft of climbing. Normal weekends really. Did London-Edinburgh in four days last year so most days were 130+ miles. I'd say my enjoyment levels fall after 100 miles, that seems to be my mental /physical limit. I can do 100+ mile days but would be increasingly likely to throw my bike in hedge in temper!

Edit: Forgot I ride a 16 mile round trip commute every day. DOH!

I seem to be a bit behind this year (getting older and lazier, perhaps), but mostly I ride AUK randonnées, so long-distance. The last one was on Friday when I test-rode this Saturday's Valley of the Rocks 200k.

Imperial centuries, at least once a month, frequently more, every single month from January 2012. Longest ride 223 miles (not counting the seven miles I did after breakfast...!). Don't have a human-powered commute since the job went to Southampton, but I'm still doing 10-15 milers most weekday mornings. When I'm not doing a big ride, often do 30-40 milers at the weekend. Did two this weekend

I did my first 100 mile ride a few weeks ago, but that ties up pretty much a full day so opportunities are rare and if I'm being honest it's not high on my list of things to repeat. I got a sense of achievement but it got a bit wearing towards the end as the focus became the miles, not the ride.
I don't really understand the focus being the miles or the ride, really. For me, it's all about the purpose or the destinations. So if I want to buy some eggs, that's less than a mile's ride, or if I want to lunch in Boston and have an afternoon pie and pint in Spalding, that's a touch over a hundred. You can guess which happens more often

Not always easy to say how far you go. I have averaged about 34 miles per ride for the last 3 years, made up of a mix of different sorts of rides. I don't do any commuting, so that is around 3,000 miles in about 90 leisure rides per year.

A weekly club ride of 30-45 miles and regular solo rides of 20-25 miles make up most of my rides, along with 15 or so 10-30 mile rides when on holiday abroad.

I've also been doing a Metric Century a Month Challenge ride every month, which brings up the average quite a bit. I would recommend throwing in a few longer or more challenging rides regularly if you are tempted to take your bike with you when you go on holiday. I have found it makes all the difference, having the extra stamina. It's great knowing that you can just head off on your bike and explore, whatever the terrain. That has allowed me to realise my dream of cycling in the Alps on 3 occasions now.

Apart from the commute, it's anywhere between 20 & 100 in Devon, but rather too infrequently for my liking, and tending towards the shorter end (too much other stuff going on). In France I tend to alternate between days of about 30-40 and 70-100 (only eating, sleeping and friends cramp my style there).

Carbon fibre... LMAO!!!
My longest this year was 48 miles but that kinda ride is rare as chicken teeth. Most are around 20 miles averaging 9 - 10mph and even then I'm lucky if I get out once or twice a week. Living on the edge of bolton I don't have a 10 mile ride to escape suburban hell first though
When I was with the bike club it was about 40 - 50 twice a week and involved a cafe stop and quietly swearing at the group to slow the **** down.
