My routine at this time of year:
· Sneak out of bedroom whilst wife asleep to approach pile of cycling gear left on landing (pre planning)
· Pre ride poo
· Bib shorts on
· Bibs shorts down because I forgot base layer
· Bib shorts on
· Bibs shorts down and base layer up because I forgot my HRM
· Base layer down
· Bib shorts on
· sneak downstairs
· feed cat
· water/juice kids
· stop kid argument
· eat bowl of shreddies
· stop kid argument
· fill bidon
· go upstairs to grab phone left on bed side table
· back downstairs
· socks on
· knee warmers on
· one arm warmer on
· go upstairs to rummage around for the other one
· back downstairs
· other arm warmer on
· last minute pee
· jersey on
· go out to garage in 'Crocs'
· change in cycling shoes
· realise garmin is on charge in house
· clatter back in to get garmin
· back to garage
· bugger - I have two left gloves
· shoes off
· Crocs on
· Back into house
· upstairs to find a right glove
· back to garage (stopping argument on the way)
· shoes back on
· swap glasses lense depending on weather
· gloves on
· decide if helmet warranted today
· grab bike
· add garmin
· swear because garmin has locked up
· reboot garmin
· swear a few more times
· give up on garmin
· press button to close garage door and try to get out before door hits head
· realise that emergency jacket and sunglasses are still in garage and 'blipper' is in the house
· give up and just read to meet with friends convinced I am late but actually getting there first
I can usually achieve all this in about 20 minutes but with no need to take first few miles easy as i am fully warmed up.
