I can usually achieve all this in about 20 minutes but with no need to take first few miles easy as i am fully warmed up.

You could save time by multitasking the poo and the wee.

Having read this, for those who are considering going down the N+1 route, the +1 should be something you can just jump on, no silly shoes, no special clothes, no nothing. Just jump on the +1 bike and get going.

A flat pedaled hybrid is my +1 bike and gets used more than the roady, no faff, no messing about, just get it out of the garage and off I go. The only exception is of course as I said way way, is forgetting the garmin. I always forget the garmin.

"The +1"?

Singular?

I'm not sure you quite get the N = N+1 paradigm.

My N number is 3 but there is always a +1.

The N number varies but the +1 is always constant ^_^

I bet some on here have a very high N number.

Half an hour before a proper ride because I have to feed the cat, drink a gallon of coffee, make the bed. Bike is prepped the evening before.
Same before the commute, but I like the leave 30 min before I really need to, in case of mechanicals.

Just started commuting to work and this is a real bugbear of mine...takes over an hour to get to work so I can do without the time it takes to get ready (both at home and then at work for the commute home)..I would say:-
Morning - everything is prepared the night before, clothes all set out, water in fridge chilling, Garmin on bike, lights charged, yet still takes at least 25-30 mins from waking up to getting clothes on and out the door (I have no bfast and try no to have a poo!)...why does it take so bloody long grr
To come home, leave desk, go to 'clothes area' pick up clothes and go to changing/shower room, 15 mins to put clothes on and sort out used work clothes for rucksack, walk to bike, unlock bike, put rucksack on, glasses on, helmet on, attach lights, attach Garmin, put wallet and phone in saddle bag relock lock to frame ...etc...another half hour gone
As i say, Im just starting this and while I would like to quicken my speed on the bike I would REALLY like to quicken my speed off the bike!
