Probably just about 11 a year; we like Dominos and we have a nice Chinese takeaway very nearby. Ipswich isn't exactly thick to the red line with erotic food. When I worked in London I ate a fair number of burritos, proper ones.

Our local chippy is good, but the portions are crazy; medium haddock and chips does for me, the wife and the spawn, and none of us have dainty appetites.

Ready meals never ever.

I am lucky to have an award winning chippy near work (expensive) and one near home with at least one other excellent chippy. If you exclude chippy take always, then maybe once or twice a year for any other.

Ps if we have a chippy tea, we usually share portions, not quite greedy enough for fish and a full chips myself.

Award winning chippies in Manchester. Who'd have thunk it.

How is it classed if you don't take the food away?
Could eating in at McDonalds* be classed as eating out and not a takeaway?

*Personally can't stand McDonalds

None! In my younger days when I was still married, it was probably a Chinese or an Indian takeaway once a week - but I think I can safely say that in the intervening 11 years I've probably had no more than 5 takeaways in total! Does this blow the stereotype of a *cough* young-ish *cough* single bloke and his dietary habits out of the water?

Takeaway does not necessarily mean unhealthy or poor food, or that someone that has 100+ a year is fat

well I've got a 'beer' belly... but that's a far as i can be described as fat. Pea on a cocktail stick is a better description.

When i get a curry from the Chinese it definitely healthier than making myself sausage & mash... pizza or kentucky on the other hand... i like them but they are dirty.

Here's the selection that may result in me learning the Mandarin for 'indigestion'.

Despite the fact I'm morally opposed to McDonalds for a great many reasons, I have to conceed that when I was vegetarian they were a safe bet in a sea of animal product based fast food outlets. They have also (finally) made quite a positive contribution to animal welfare and British farming.

They still serve grey tasteless pap, but only as a part of what is on offer.

My god, me sticking up for McDonalds, I may as well give up on life right now.

Nah, I'll pop out on my bike instead.

I opted for the 6 - 10 choice, its probably lower than 10 though. Maybe a takeaway ever 8 weeks or so. We cannot afford to eat takeout.
I visit a customer who has takeaway every night. She has a brand new oven with all the blue transparent plastic still on it. Its been like that for the 3 years that I have known her. She says that she cannot afford to buy food to make a meal and can't afford to learn to cook (delia lessons online now I believe) but she has her takeaway schedule up on the fridge - KFC on Monday, McDees on Tuesday, Nandos on wednesday etc etc.

I'm on an iPad, so I can't see the poll ... but I know it's only twice a year. My dad comes to visit twice a year. I'm vegetarian and he's not, so we pick up take away for him. We'll go out to a restaurant also.

xiao hua bu liang ..... literally "digestion not good"

When I'm in China they always bring me KFC if we're working late so what you've bought looks a step up in quality

Seriously though, sandwiches are fine. Suggest next time buy some fruit and natural yoghurt (Chinese seem to live on this)
