Two pizzas when we go to charidee quiz nights, two chinese take-aways, and about three quarter-pounders with cheese when I get an irresistible urge to loiter under the Arches. I always regret the latter, even before I'm half way through the chips.

Probably once every couple of months, normally a curry as I have a very good curry house just down the road (has won awards). Had fish and chips the other night, first time in about 4 years, oddly it was on the way home from picking up my new bike. As for ready meals, except for pizza I think it was about 3 or 4 years since I last had one.
I can understand the 1/4 pounders, but not the "chips". Are you even allowed to call them chips?
It's just a feeble one-man protest against Americanisms.

We don't really eat takeaway at all, we do eat out (Barburrito is a favourite) at least once a week though.
When I was on jury service I did extensive research on best value supermarket-convenience store sandwiches, but also burritos. I preferred Panchos in the Arndale, better choice and hotter options available and I thought better value.

I share a chinese with my daughter about once a month when she stays.
It's got to be better than pizza or burgers, although trying to tempt her onto something other than prawn chow mein is proving a slow process.

blimey... if she can spend 4-5 quid on a take-out, surely she can afford a bag of spuds, a carrot, a tin of peas and a couple of sausages??? oh, and a pan of water!

as for 'learn to cook'... put in pan, heat... eat when edible!

...unless of course this person has learning/living difficulties. Then it's a different story
Not learning difficulties, just lazy. She spends a lot of money on nail varnish, hairdressing and dying herself orange.

She can't afford 'food' as she spends so much on crap and takeaways. She spends a fair bit on having her dog groomed as well so I shouldn't grumble.

We had a relatively intelligent person a couple of years ago working as a volunteer ranger, who, when challenged on buying ready meals a lot, opined that supermarkets stopped people cooking, because of all the ready meals they sell. I pointed out that I shop almost exclusively at supermarkets, and cook for myself virtually everyday, from scratch. So she changed tack, and said that cooking was very complicated, because you had to time things. I told her to get a timer.

Some people really seem to think cooking is a dark art that you need a degree and a fortune to understand. I just don't get it, but then I was brought up watching Mum and Dad cook, and learned without even realising I was learning.

xiao hua bu liang ..... literally "digestion not good"

When I'm in China they always bring me KFC if we're working late so what you've bought looks a step up in quality

Seriously though, sandwiches are fine. Suggest next time buy some fruit and natural yoghurt (Chinese seem to live on this)

Here's today's fayre:

Good call on the fruit.

With my better half being a chef, I am somewhat spoiled on the food front. We do have a very good chippy down here by the sea, we probably have fish & chips once a month and the very occassional Chinese (2 or 3 times a year).
