I think my first tricycle might have been a Triang, not sure as it was a hand me down .
The first bike which I learnt on was a girls Gresham Flyer with a carrier on the back . I used to ride it a bit like a speedway bike going around corners with a foot down .
My next bike was my brother's Humber with rod brakes.
1966 I was given a new Sun Mist for Christmas which had Simplex plastic derailleur.
In 1971 I bought my first bike . A Holdsworth Record which I still have .
Falcon Black Diamond
Raleigh Criterium Triathlon 12
Raleigh mountain bike .
BSA Sportsman. A friend was throwing it out so I rescued it .
Carrera Vulcan front suspension ally frame , a skip rescue , I thought I would try it out .
Scott Yacora mountain bike, gave it to my daughter .
Carlton Competition frame built up from a donor bike .
Puch Alpine .
BSA Tour de France frame bought as a donor but since built up .
Flying Scot bought as an unknown frame , since built up .
Raleigh Granada .
Raleigh Altare.
Carlton Kermesse Reynolds 501 with whistling forks .
Coventry Eagle Triple Ace Convertible Tandem .
Dawes Double Blue. Couldn't resist the colour .
Carlton Clubman .
Carlton Cobra , wanted a chrome frame .
Falcon Club Special.
Albion of Melksham .
Raleigh Record Ace.
Dawes Shadow .

Something that I've just minded is that when I was a wee lad, two of the children in our area had trikes; can't mind the makes, each with a sturdy and decent sized 'boot' between the rear wheels. sheet metal with a lift up lid, they were very handy for stowing all sorts of contraband - ! :okay:
Something you don't see now; children's trikes, with or without a boot.

Emmelle - first geared bike
Raleigh (Scorpio) - 12 gears, red, loved it
Carrera - grey/red, temperamental, gripshift gears
Haro BMX
Unknown crappy hack bike
Saracen (Skyline) - first tourer
Trek MTB
Edinburgh Bikes - tourer, dad's hand me down
Current bikes
Tifosi CK7 - since 2011
Claud Butler MTB - since 2016
Triban RC520 - since 2019
Boardman Team Carbon - since 2020
Elswick Elite - turbo bike, since mid 2021
Genesis Flyer single speed - since Nov 2021

Pretty happy with my current stable, although both the Tifosi and MTB need a complete strip down, overhaul and upgrade. Tifosi is currently mothballed in the loft; will ride the MTB till parts start breaking!

Not as many as most, I've tended to keep ones I've liked for a long time, 22 years the longest so far.
Triang kid's trike, then probably a Raleigh kid's bike

1 Raleigh folding shopping bike for my 11th birthday
2 a cheap secondhand three speed drop bar bitsa when the folder was pinched
3 a half decent 10 speed falcon, which got a mid-life upgrade to 15 speed a dozen years later
4 a Thorn tourer - drop bars, 27 speed, great if a bit heavy. I still have it albeit mid replacing the brake levers
5 My Condor tempo fixie - my favourite bike. Commuted on it for nearly 10 years plus some day trips. Near perfect in every way
6 A Brompton - bought it then the need for it disappeared so should flip it really. Again mid upgrade so needs fixing whether to use or sell

I still own 4,5 and 6

A wee memory jogger for a bit of fun - ! How many different makes ( not models ) of bike have you owned since starting out as a nipper - ?

A couple of no-name (or forgotten, or never knew/cared) starter kiddy bikes
Dawes
Raleigh
Unibike (Polish firm)
Cannondale
Specialized

So 5 that I know about. So it looks like I started in the UK, moved to Poland and then America  (but I didn't).

Blimey, some of the posts on here seem like the worst examples of throw-away culture. I've made do with 5 bikes in my adult life and still have 3 of 'em.

Treasured and now sadly missed
1) A beloved Dawes racer. Obtained 3rd hand as a teenager circa 1985, used everywhere, and kept for over 25 years. Skipped due to crash damage.

Retired and good riddance
2) A 2nd-hand steel Specialized MTB , used only for riding to the station where it was locked outside in the elements. After 18-19 years it was more rust than bike.

Current bikes
3) A Giant MTB. Had it nearly 15 years from new. It looks tired after numerous scrapes, falls and an RTC, but is still going strong.
4) A Holdsworth racer. I've had it 10 years, although it was in the family (boxed & unused) for nearly 30 years before that. Build using parts from my cherished Dawes, and is probably my favourite bike. Might use it for the LondonEssex in May.
5) A 2009 Specialized road bike which was rescued from a skip about 5 years ago and replaced "2". Has had a hard life but has upgraded components and his my go-to bike for most rides (utility, commuting, leisure, Fridays, etc). A mate was horrified when I joined him for a 50 mile blast last autumn with the luggage rack and pannier (Godammit) still attached!

If "4" ever dies, I might indulge my occasional Ti envy.

Triang trike with a box on the back.

A bike of indeterminate make, hand painted bright red, where the frame broke.

An Elswick Hopper 3 speed, on which I passed cycling proficiency.

A dark green " racer" that I used till I got a moped and forgot bikes for a while.

A Viking Tony Doyle replica "racer", eventually sold to a mate who wanted to start triathlon training.

A cheapo mountain bike.

A Saracen mountain bike.

A Decathlon full suspension mountain bike.

A Powabike Salisbury ebike. This is the only one still in my possession.
