How terrible are you at...parking?

My parking is practically perfect.

What really, really annoys me is that the spaces I park in are often both the wrong size and in the wrong place.

This gives the false impression that I am a poor parker, as I make sure I always park according to the size the space ought to be and the location it ought to occupy.

Why hasn't somebody done something about this?

My parking is utter crap. Backing into a space in a car park is fine, as for reverse parallel parking? I don't even try anymore...

Can parallel park my van ok but supermarket car parks are dodgy (poor reversing vis) so I always park where there are empty spaces - don't mind walking a bit further.

You really have no idea of the rules do you? You must park as close as possible to the supermarket entrance, in a parent & child space if available but if not a disabled space will do just as well. Spending several minutes squeezing into a small space is also acceptable if above designated spaces are full and it can reduce the length of your walk by at least 20ft. Waiting for someone else near the entrance to empty their trolley and vacate a space, whilst causing a traffic queue to build up, is also acceptable. I'm surprised all this isn't included in the theory test!

I always reverse into a parking space, unless I get a drive through. Parallel parking I'm not that grate at, our street is really narrow and busy with cars, so quite often end up swearing. Luckily when I get home from college there are lots of spaces.

You really have no idea of the rules do you?

I thought the rules were that if you enter a massive car park, and there are only two cars parked at the furtherst corner with a space between them, then you must squeeze into that space to make three in a row even if it means you have to climb out the window because the doors won't open.
All the other empty spaces are out of bounds until a woman driver enters the carpark and parks somewhere sensible.

I'm mediocre, I think. I can reverse into a car park space, but with parallel parking if I don't get it right first time, I'm jiggered and might as well go round the block and try again. I passed my test before it was included, so I never had tuition in it, and anyway, you need to learn the formula for your car (and I don't have one).

I'm also prone to clipping the kerb going in forwards - I blame the fact that I normally drive an electric truck in which I sit virtually over the nearside front wheel (it's LHD), so in any car where I'm behind the wheel and on the other side, I lose track.

With regard to learning to drive, I never quite understood why I was taught to reverse round a corner (I mean, you can do a three pointer to turn round), until after I'd passed and wanted to reverse into a parking space. My instructor just never made the connection for me...

I drive fork trucks or electric vehicles with trailers, reversing with 2 trailers on the back can be fun getting the counter steering to work ....

and yes i can park a car , when i drive it once a week .....

Another thing that really annoys me in car parks are the lazy nerks who use disabled or child parking spots because they can`t be bothered to walk another few feet to the shop and those of us who have the "legitimate " right to use the spots have to struggle to get pre-school children and babies out of a car with hardly any room .

I would gladly pay a bit more for my shopping if they employed someone to walk around the car park and then announce over the shop sound system "Would the owner of car reg XXX XXX please move your car as you are about to be clamped "

I regularly park the 18' Landrover in a 19' space.
I seen people in little hatch backs reject a space as too small, but big enough for the Landrover

My feeling is if you can't park, then you should not be driving

The only sort of parking I don't like is parallel parking on the right hand side of a road. The angles seem easy on the normal left hand side, but it's a different story on the right.
