We've been on our cul-de-sac from new - 15 years. The cul-de-sac is on the end of an older road....when we moved in, we knew most of the neighbours.... only two original neighbours remains us and another..... - we know her well, but keep to ourselves - I fixed a new 'but unused' bike up for her recently. Most of the 12 in the cul de sac are fine, not many do gardening, so we don't see many of them - we are always out and about at the front of the house with the kids, sorting bikes, washing cars, gardening...... The guy over the road has just bought a decent road bike so he popped over for me to have a quick look at, and spotted a few errors Evans made...... oops.....I've said to pop over if he has problems with the bike.....

Down the road, on the older bit, we have two great families from school, only 100 yards way, but it always helps with 'keeping an eye' on the kids.

Overall most folk keep themselves to themselves.... friendly hello and a chat, but of the 12 houses on our cul de sac, only 2 have kids...more further down the road....

Like where we live.....

Get on really well with neighbours either side... and some others up the road too... know most of them by sight/to say hello to... quite lucky really, given some of the tales you hear... :hello:

We get on really well with our neighbours.
The surprise for me is the number of people who don't. I would find that strange. I have lived in 4 towns and 7 houses all in Ayrshire and have enjoyed good neighbours everytime.

I have some of the bestest neighbours, and realise how lucky they are I am. This is a cul de sac of approximately thirty houses.

Of the dozen or so houses nearest me, most are occupied by friendly people who either work from home or who are retired. This includes a builder, (excellent friendy chap) and a plumber.

No kiddies in the immediate vicinity. The road goes downhill, further up, as it were , and some of the children from the hilly bit sometimes play on their little bicycles on the flat bit here, but they could not remotely be considered a nuisance.

Two big dogs, one next door who hardly ever barks, and one opposite who never barks. There is a chap down the road with the most noisiest car engine imaginable, but as it is a vintage Morgan, he gets away with it.
