The last time I tried the old Withernsea line, 2016, it was absolutely terrible on a hybrid with 32mm tyres. If you have wider tyres and suspension it may be much more comfortable.

(In fact, after 10 miles, my shifter broke apart with all the vibration so I took the next exit, and rode back on the road with just my front shifter working).

Like i say, its a while since I was there. If the line is that bad I would go via Preston, burstwick, Halsham, Patrington, Welwick, Easington and Spurn. Use the back road to Withernsea and not the A1033.

For those who expressed an interest in joining me and @EasyPeez for the ride, a date has now been set which is the weekend of September 16/17.

Hopefully that will suit most riders.

I'm inclined to stick with the original idea of the Sunday, unless there's an avalanche of replies calling for the Saturday.

We will have 80-odd miles to do, so provisional thinking is no later than a 9am start from Beverley.

I'm aware @NorthernDave may struggle to make the start, but a meeting point en route can be arranged.

A thread in recreational rides will be started nearer the time, but by all means get your Saturday or Sunday preferences in now.
