Hard to respond to this, because the answer in my head was "Yes, I agree. I love Dick" - really.

Obviously I can't post that on CC.

Edit: "We Can Remember It For You Wholesale". I want to be at the meeting that decided "Total Recall" was a bette name, and punch everyone in the face.

Think it might be interesting to read the original book of some of the films I've seen (except Dan Brown books which annoy me).

Nope

That's the one! Utter shite, unlike Blade Runner.

I'll need to go and watch Blade Runner, just in case I am still thinking about a different film. But The Fifth Element was dross.

Ok, I have no idea what movies I am getting mixed up, but I have just watched some segments of Blade Runner on youtube and realise I have never watched it before.

I have to know ....

when does she ask "are you testing if I am a replicant, or a lesbian?"?

It never gets that far. I just have to say
"It's artificial?"
in my best Harrison Ford voice and she goes weak at the knees, which would be unlikely if she was either a replicant or a lesbian.

BTW Blade Runner 2049 is excellent.

That's the answer to "Do you like our owl". So you answer her in a zoo, wildlife sanctuary or bird of prey centre and she goes weak at the knees? How many zoo, wildlife sanctuary or bird of prey centres have you been kicked out of?

Or does she shut you down with "Mr Deckard, that's not my kind of place"?

That's all you needed to post
I don't even think I need to anymore, most just take it as read.

I was just thinking that! It's about an hour and a half outside my bladder range. Do they still have an "intermission" when they pull the curtains over the screen and someone appears down the front with a torch, selling ice cream from a tray? It's been a while since I went to the picture house.....

Never mind closing the thread. This surely marks the end of human civilisation.

Oh, and a second viewing of 2049 has been confirmed for this evening. I'm just as excited as I was the first time, partly I think because SophRM hasn't seen it and I enjoy watching great films with her. Before we met she'd wasn't a huge film fan, and she'll never reach my levels of obsession, but I really enjoy sharing one of my passions with her.

I don’t get the adoration for the original. It was OK. I’ve watched it a few times to try and buy-in to the exhaltation, but it never happens.

This, I think, is where a lot of folk go wrong. Bollocks to what anyone else thinks, if you think it's "OK" you don't need to justify yourself to those who think it's incredible.

As an example, our local indie cinema screened it last year and I took a friend who'd never seen it before. As we were walking home I asked him what he thought and he said, "Well, I liked it, but all I really got was that it was really dark and it rained a lot."

At first I was annoyed, but really, he's not wrong.
