In my eyes it is stealing.

Kleptomaniac isn't a word we often here these days. I worked for a few years at a local 'mental hospital' http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/hospitalrecords/details.asp?id=1376
in the early 1980's (Yes i've mentioned a few times that i must've had around 40 jobs in my life). Many patients were in there for trivial things, theft being one of them. One patient was a very intelligent man(capable of working out hard mathematical equations) who'd been in there since the 1950's. He told me he'd been sent there for stealing a bicycle and some washing off a line. He just couldn't help himself. He'd pickpocket you given half a chance. He'd nick anything that wasn't nailed down,as they say. We have to take into account that not all those who steal are 'low lives' who do it rather than work to earn money and then pay for the items.

Kleptomania (klep-toe-MAY-nee-uh) is the recurrent inability to resist urges to steal items that you generally don't really need and that usually have little value. Kleptomania is a rare but serious mental health disorder that can cause much emotional pain to you and your loved ones if not treated.

Like the woman who took one banana and gave it to her screaming kid

When it comes to pick and mix, I think nothing of trying a couple before buying some in my local Wilkinson - even more so as I've made the mistake of not doing so and getting stale toffees that weren't chewy and tasted like site (yes they were ones that are supposed to be hard and chewy )

Steal from me or the business I own, no difference.
I understand your sentiment, but assuming you take a salary from your business then it will still hit you harder if stolen from your pocket -losses from your business should be covered by some sort of insurance and will be taken out before any profits, whereas steal from you is direct from your pocket after your tax allowance and should it be insured then the insurance and the rise in price of if any should you claim is also direct from your pocket.

There are some impressive gymnastics round here as people try and justify their flexible morality.

It's theft.

Indeed I will admit to having "flexible morality" but that aside, I don't understand how my post tries to justify or even makes any hint of such a thing..

I am not saying theft is good or should be tolerated..... I'm also not saying that I have never broken the law - and I will call anyone a liar to their face if they try to say they have never broken a law.... you don't have to get caught to break the law, and in many instances it's an offense to turn a blind eye to someone else breaking the law...

Just because someone may have had a privileged upbringing and has never had to steal, doesn't mean they haven't broken any other law... maybe even ones that I and maybe lots of others would deem worse... like by endangering another person or such, even if it didn't hurt someone or went unnoticed..

If I'm sending a card through the post, it goes into a plain brown envelope, with an extra piece of card, the size of the brown envelope if there's anything in the card.
Us too now, lesson learned
